Hello!

Life on the farm has been fantastic since our move. Johnny has settled in nicely and is enjoying his new routine. I can safely say he is now starting to make friends with the donkeys day- by-day, although he isn't a fan of sharing breakfast with them just yet!

The weather hasn't been very kind to us lately, which has hampered his turnout a little. So, where possible we have been hacking around the farm and down to the beach. I'm lucky enough that the beach is just a 15 minute walk from the farm and  I can enjoy the sand and sea -  although not so much the sunshine. I often take Penny out with us too. It's great to be able to kill two birds with one stone.

Johnny is used to having dogs around him from our trail hunting days, so isn't fazed by Penny being around his legs when out. I got stopped by someone in a passing car the other day to tell me it was lovely to see such well-behaved animals together. It makes my heart burst with pride to know my two best friends and I can do things like this together.

Plans for the coming month include Johnny going across to a friend for some jumping education. Richard is a well-known face in Cumbria with his BS rides and also his ROR horses. Although I have done the basics with Johnny, it's time he moved up a gear and I know Richard will give him the biggest confidence boost.

Camp is booked with Emma Carmichael. For those who don't recognise the name, she was married to Ben Hobday. Emma is a local Northumbria-based event rider and I have been fortunate enough to get a place for three days in July at her facilities. We are so looking forward to this.

Showing has been put on the back burner for the short term with my month being taken over by work and additional lambing duties, so we will look at this again after April. For now we are happy just enjoying the farm life and getting fit again.

Lots of love,

Jess
