Wow! What a fantastic and busy 2023 we have had. Last year was our first full year at county level shows. At times we have felt out of our depth, but we have met so many good people who have given us great advice and we learn something at every outing. It has been a real learning curve, especially for my partner, Ben, who has only owned his first horse (Mrs Jones) for two years.

Gwen has gone from strength to strength with her showing and we actually realised my dream to qualify and compete at the Royal Welsh. Seeing her take her place in that main ring with the best Welsh Ds was definitely a highlight and made me so proud.

Mrs Jones has continued her showing education by winning and getting placed in many youngstock classes. Her final show of last year saw her qualify for the NPS in hand winter champs 2024.

Skye, who is now 24 years old, is living a quieter life, as I sadly can no longer jump her. She's still fit and well, and enjoys her ridden work which is all that matters. I've been fortunate enough to compete her up until last year and now she has definitely earnt her semi-retirement.

At the end of the summer, we welcomed Hazel – mum’s two-year old Welsh Section D – to the girl squad. She was quite poor when we got her, so have been concentrating on her condition and she's already looking fantastic.

We have plans in place for this year which we are super-excited about. Gwen will focus on the ridden showing and hopefully we will return to Royal Welsh. Mrs Jones and Hazel will be three this spring, so will start on the ground work basics and enjoy their last season in the youngstock classes.

I will try some in-hand veteran classes with Skye as she really is looking fab. This could be interesting for an ex showjumper and hopefully it won't be a disaster. Big thanks, as always, go to EquiGlo for being a part of our journey. Our girls look fantastic and we always get asked what we feed we use.  We are proud to be part of the EquiGlo family.
