Hello everyone,

Where to begin… My last few blogs have all felt quite monumental. Etty being weaned, Winnie coming home, Maple’s first shows! And yet I feel a bit lost for words, not because I feel as though I have anything big or exciting to share, rather the opposite.

I thought this post would be about Addington Premier League, and how well Maple did (or didn’t do). But plans changed, and we didn’t go. Not for any crazy reason or with a big story to tell; I simply didn’t feel like she was ready. Not that she wouldn’t have done a sweet enough test…she probably would have! But she wouldn’t have shown off her best self, and when she does eventually get out against the ‘big boys’ I want to feel like she’s in a place where I can show her off. She’s gone a bit bum high and consequently feeling quite flat, so a holiday it was instead! I’ll admit I was (and am) a bit disappointed not to go, but those couple of weeks off have done her the world of good and so we will just keep chipping away at it.

Of course we can’t forget about the oranges. They are also doing really well! Winnie, of course, is back home. She has had the all clear from the chiro to come back into work, so has been doing A LOT of in‑hand pole work and even had a very brief lunge a couple of times. I don’t want to get ahead of myself but she is looking rather good… who knows, perhaps next blog I’ll even be back onboard?!

Little one is also doing well. She was poorly earlier in the year with liver hepatitis, potentially from toxins in the soil, which, as you can imagine, was very stressful! But pleased to say she’s doing so much better now. She’s also moved ‘home’ from stud, not the same place as the other two, but to a lovely youngstock and retirement livery some friends have recently started down the road. It’s so lovely to have her so close to home; being able to see her a lot more regularly is for sure a dream come true. She’s settled in brilliantly with her new pals, and it’s great to see her so happy.

Writing this blog has actually been quite cathartic, I almost feel a bit foolish for fearing I had nothing really to share! I think it just goes to show how important taking time to really think about what it is you’ve done is. This has really highlighted to me just how easily one thing (in my case not going to Addington) can completely take over and change the narrative in your head.

So if your plans have gone a bit sideways lately too, here’s to celebrating the little bits of progress we so often overlook.

Leah
