Hello everyone,
What a year it’s been and it isn’t over yet! As you know my whole world was turned upside down back in May when I was diagnosed with cancer, since then it’s been about diagnosis, surgery, treatment, then recovery.
Surgery and chemo went as well as it can, and I’ve had a follow-up scan that came back clear. I now have to get clear scans every three months for the next two years - “scanxiety” is a real thing, to anyone that’s been through cancer or is going through it, I salute you, stay strong!
The one constant through it all has been the horses. I had two weeks where I couldn’t leave the house, so my super family and friends helped out, then I was back to seeing them daily for cuddles and another four later weeks I was riding again. I can’t tell you how much they improved my recovery and got me through, I would have been lost and depressed without them.
We’ve started doing bits with them this last month. The endurance season is over and in all honesty I wasn’t up for riding any distance, so we’ve been jumping. Short trips out, a quick round of jumps and home again.
This change of scene has done me good and the horses also seem to enjoy it. I’m very lucky to have an arena at home, so this winter the horse will stay in work and we’ll plan some more jumping and dressage outings. I’m hoping this will keep us all fit enough to start our 2026 endurance season with a flourish! I’m very much looking forward to wearing my new EquiGlo shirt and coat, although I’m definitely saving them for “going out” so they don’t get covered in the daily horse hair and muck!!
Here is a photo of Vilette and I recently, she’s obviously wearing her EquiGlo saddle pad!!
Much love,
Tanya
