Hello, everyone,

It feels so great at the moment with all the dry weather. The fields aren’t so muddy and the horses are shedding their winter coats, spring is definitely in the air!

Winter has been long and wet, but we’ve kept up the horses work a little better now we are lucky enough to have our own arena at home. It’s given us a real head-start on fitness work. We have also been able to use the route that should have been used for the training ride we organise. Sadly, we had to cancel it due to the horrendous wind and rain, but it makes for some great training, so we are making the most of it until June when all the pheasants are back out (horse eating pheasants!).

We are taking Vilette and Mirrie on their first competition. They are in the open season and the plan is to get them upgraded to advanced. They need to do 2x64 rides and 1x80km ride, so we’ll see how it goes. Bella is already advanced and the plan is to try and race here at some point. For me this will be treated as a normal graded ride and we just have to make it through the mass start, which I’m expecting to be quite hair raising.

Equiglo has been great over the winter as we make it into a hot mash so the horses have something warming when they come in from the bad weather. Now the rides are getting started we’ll use it as a hydrating drink at our crew point, so it’s a useful year round feed to have in!

Hope you all have a great summer with your steeds.

 Tanya xx
