Hello,  everyone,

Wow what a busy last few weeks here. Where to start...

I was asked to join a racehorse trainer over in Ireland at the end of July for the tattersalls store sales. Having never been, I jumped at the chance to view over 500 horses across two days, all with the potential of being the next big name in the racing world. My knowledge and experience of thoroughbreds was put into action and after two extremely long days viewing horses, three were purchased, two geldings and a filly. These are now being broken and ridden away with the plan to race next season.

A break from work visiting family while Johnny had a few days off followed. A chance to see my nieces and enjoy spending time with them was much needed before a busy few months ahead at work. Watching my youngest niece at just four years old cantering round the menage on Cognac the pony, seeing her smiling and enjoying her wonderful mount was wonderful. She is now asking when she can come and ride Johnny. There is a big difference between Cognac at 11.3hh and Johnny at 16.3hh but she always asks and all I can say is one day! She is fearless.

Back home from a lovely week off work and the weather was kind to us for a beach ride. I had arranged for Ellen Valley Riding Club members to join me for a hack round the farm followed by a blast on Allonby beach. Johnny enjoyed the company and put his best foot forward as usual accompanying a very nervous rider.

Now that summer is behind us and we approach autumn, it's time to think about the season ahead. Johnny and I have been racking up the miles and working on his fitness for the upcoming 2024 hunt season. The weather hasn't been very kind to us here in Cumbria so we have had to work in all weather. Despite this Johnny is still happily living out 24 hours a day with his daily feed of EquiGlo. He looks incredible and feels it too.

Although we haven't been out competing much lately due to work, we are looking forward to a weekend at Netherton in September hopefully for the HCR finals before supporting some friends at HOYS and a trip over to Spain for the sunshine tour in November.

Lots to look forward to before the winter takes its toll and we are all knee deep mucking out stables in the dark.

Much love Jess and Johnny xx
