Lizzie Blamire

10/07/2024

Hello, everyone,

I’m Lizzie Blamire – a new EquiGlo brand ambassador.  I live on our farm in Cumbria with my husband Steve and our animals, including two yearlings and a 3.5 month filly foal, a broodmare, a stallion, a 32” mini-Shetland, Jazz, who is worth her weight in gold and she’s a great companion to Anthony aka Another Touch, who previously had a successful racing career on the flat.

My mum died of cancer back in 2012, so my dad, Larry,  and I stick together like glue and we take a pride in breeding what we hope will be either sport ponies/horses from Robe River Mist, a Class One Connemara stallion that we jointly own.

I was very fortunate to get my own pony at the age of six. She was called Freckles and a family friend brought her up from a sale in Yorkshire in the back of his Land Rover as she was so tiny. This was the start of my life with ponies and I was a member of the Pony Club until I was 16. I was very lucky to have wonderful ponies that I hunted, did cross country on and took part in local showjumping.

After college, I moved to Ireland for 12 months and during that time I rode out for Aiden O’Brien and NH trainer Michael ‘Mouse’ Morris, and worked at Coolmore Stud. I thoroughly enjoyed stud work and on returning home went down to Hungerford where I worked in a TB stud, foaling and  prepping yearlings for the sales in Newmarket.

With my background in stud work and experience in prepping yearlings for the sales, I feel that I am able to give our youngsters plenty of education and the very best start.

Anthony has recently undergone some dental work, but I am hoping that he will come back into work in the middle of this month and I can’t wait to look through his ears again.

I am delighted to become a brand ambassador for  EquiGlo. I have fed Quick Soak 10 Minute Beet since it first came on to the market. It is an amazing feed for the horse’ gut and digestion. They always clean up their pots and have a great shine to their coats. I feed it as a warm mash in winter when it’s cold and in summer they love a cold, sloppy feed, which I am really happy about as it helps to keep them hydrated.

I will be back in touch soon with more tales of what is happening down on the farm.

Lizzie
