Millie’s Blog

Hi everyone, hope you’ve all had a great summer and enjoyed all the lovely weather that we’ve had! Me and Sky certainly have and we’ve had a very busy time.

At the beginning of August we had our first Pony Club camp and we had an amazing time! We did cross country, dressage, grid work, musical ride, showjumping, water schooling and even went on the gallops! Sky was such a good girl all week, with our favourite bits being cross country and water schooling.

After camp Sky had a steady week but at the end of it we had our first ODE (one day event)! In the dressage we got 32.5 leaving us about 7th going into the showjumping where we jumped an amazing clear round (one of very few to do so) so I was so excited going into the cross country where we flew around the course clear inside the time and went into 2nd place! When we’d finished I was so happy and I was also one of only 2 double clears in my section!

Sky then had a steady 2 weeks where we mainly did flatwork and a bit of jumping as we had another ODE on the 27th August!

At our most recent ODE, I was a bit nervous after walking the course for the cross country as there were some jumps that were quite big but I didn’t let that bother me going into the dressage where we got 34.3 and even getting some 8s!

This put us 4th going into the showjumping where we jumped another excellent clear on very muddy ground and now my nerves had gone going into the cross country where we stormed around the biggest course we’ve done to be inside the time and move up into 2nd place again and this time I was the only double clear in my section and one of 5 out of 80 horses!

September is already busy. At the BRC national championships, in the Prelim I came

1st in my arena and in the style jumping we got a team 3rd so we got 2 mounted presentations!

I was very pleased with it all as it was Sky’s first nationals and after everything that had happened this year it seemed amazing to get something back for all the hard work we put in!

Thank you for reading,
